Thistledown Wine Company, McLaren Vale (South Australia) Grenache “Thorny Devil” 2022 ($31, Southern Starz)

Thistledown’s Thorny Devil is made from old, dry farmed, bush vines in the McLaren Vale. The magic of this wine is that it presents a soft and elegant body while having a powerful flavor profile. Tart cranberry, candied strawberry, ripe red cherry, slate, red blossom, and soft leather suggestions are among the plethora of notes I find in this delicious Grenache. I recommend serving this wine at cellar temperature. If you don’t have a wine fridge, a half-hour in your refrigerator before opening will provide a similar effect.
