This superb Chardonnay accomplishes something that is quite rare in young renditions regardless of growing location: A combination of excellent complexity and seamless integration. Trefethen has a long record of success in its cool microclimate with both Riesling and Chardonnay, but even with that taken into account, this is quite special. Medium-bodied but quite flavorful, with very subtle oak-derived notes of spices and toasted nuts melding beautifully with moderately ripe fruit recalling white peaches with a squeeze of lemon, this is an object lesson in success and stylishness with Chardonnay.
