Among the range of V. Sattui Cabernet Sauvignons, this one stands out as a lovely example of Napa Valley mountain Cabernet. The Vangone Vineyard rests at a 1200 foot elevation on the east side of the valley with a southwest exposure. The gravelly volcanic soils are spare and the grapes ripen slowly on this sun-baked slope. The wine shows deep black currant fruit aromas with hints of dark plum, blackberry cocoa, vanilla, herbs, olive and black pepper spice. On the palate, the layers of black fruits are enhanced by elements of black olive, baking spice, herbs and cocoa.
