This is an outstanding rendition of Barbera that successfully bridges the gap between traditional and modern style. It shows the snappy acidity for which Barbera was traditionally valued, along with some hints of earthiness and a whiff of cured meat, yet it is also packed with fruit recalling both red and black berries. Very well proportioned and integrated, this avoids the Barbera extremes of being either screechy or soupy, and hits the bulls eye for balance.
