Wakefield’s Estate Cabernet will be a revelation for some. For one thing, it’s a blockbuster red wine from Australia’s Clare Valley but it’s not a Shiraz. For another, it exhibits the strong scent of eucalyptus on the nose, which is a telltale sign of many Australian reds. This vintage is dense and layered, with gorgeous black-fruited aromas, silky tannins and a dazzling finish. And it’s a big bang for the buck at $17.
