The Clare Valley is among the world’s more remarkable wine regions, as it is home to some of the finest dry Rieslings made anywhere, but also striking Cabernets such as this one. Highly expressive aromatically and intensely flavorful as well, it is rich but not thick or heavy in its physical presentation, as freshening acidity lifts and drives the blackberry and cassis fruit flavors. Wood can be sensed, but this isn’t oaky in any overt way. Based on pretty extensive prior experience, I am confident that this already-delicious wine will remain delicious for at least another 15 years.
