Erich Sattler’s Zweigelt Reserve has concentrated fruit and heavy oak notes from vines that range to 40 years or more in age and new barrel aging of 12 months. Chocolate, vanilla, and smoke on the nose are backed with cherry and blueberry. The palate is creamier than the nose might suggest, and adds a cut of mineral to create even more complexity. This wine is young and needs time to integrate the components.
