This 60% / 40% blend of Shiraz and Cabernet from South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula shows lots of concentrated, deeply flavored fruit — entirely as expected. A bit less expected is a certain “stately” character to the wine, as the Cabernet tones down the exuberance of the Shiraz just enough to broaden the wine’s popular appeal and versatility at the table. Both red and black fruit tones are evident, and there’s enough acidity to keep this fresh despite its concentration.
