Buy a Big Tattoo and Contribute to Breast Cancer Research!

Dec 2, 2006 | Blog

There are a lot of worthy causes that need money to do their good works.  Big Tattoo Wines offers wine lovers a unique opportunity to purchase a bottle of Chilean red wine while supporting hospice care and breast cancer research.

Big Tattoo Red is produced by 2 Brothers Winery and sells for a modest $9 a bottle.  For every bottle sold, 50 cents is donated to the designated charity in the market where the wine was sold.  The current 2 Brothers Big Tattoo Red is 2004, a fifty-fifty blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile’s Colchagua Valley.

Big Tattoo Wines was started by brothers Erik and Alex Bartholomaus in honor of their mother, Liliana S. Bartholomaus, who passed away from cancer in 2000.  Big Tattoo Wines has raised over $800,000 in donation funds since the project’s inception in 2002.

During their mother’s illness, the Bartholomaus family was supported by the Capital Hospice in Arlington, Virginia.  As a way to give back, the 2 Brothers developed Big Tattoo Wines.  Erik Bartholomaus, a tattoo artist, created the label using his interpretation of his artist mother’s favorite symbol, the fleur de lys.  Alex turned to his mother’s native Chile to create the wine blend.

2 Brothers, Big Tattoo Red Colchagua Red 2004 ($9, Billington Imports) is a sumptuous wine with forward ripe berry aromas and flavors, good structure and length and a hint of anise, with firm tannins forming a sturdy structure for the layers of fruit.  The wine is available nationally at outlets such as Kroger, Fresh Market, Trader Joes, Total Wine, Harris Teeter, Publix, Cost Plus World Market, HEB and Bi Low.  For just over $100, you can enjoy a case of Big Tattoo Red and know that with every sip, you are doing something good.
