Gilles Robin took over the family estate in 1996, and had immediate success winning awards from his first vintage. This is the estate’s “normal” offering of Crozes-Hermitage, a young vines cuvée of Syrah. The grapes are grown on “Terrasse des Châssis,” a gravel and red clay soil offering an elegant style. The result is a vibrant, intense ruby-purple wine that stains the glass. Fresh and pure plum, raspberry, and blackberry fruit is highlighted by white pepper and a hint of meat. The wine has a core of acidity with refined, silky tannins and minerality. This is an easy-to-drink wine whose precision and harmony can be overshadowed by its forward charm.
