Morgan, Monterey (California) 2009

May 4, 2011

By Paul Lukacs

A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, Morgan’s “Cotes du Crow’s” proves tasty year after year.  It invariably improves, however, with six months to a year of bottle age, becoming somewhat less juicy and so more savory, with a peppery note in the finish that, when the wine is very young, can be obscured by the fruit.  The above score thus represents what, given past experience, I’m confident the wine will merit with a bit more time in bottle.
