A rather weighty Chianti Classico, the Castello di Uzzano actually delivers slightly tarry notes and other non-fruit nuances along with deep black fruit flavors. Although its ripeness suggests inclusion of Merlot in the blend, the wine is made entirely from Sangiovese. Befitting a top-notch Chianti Classico, its Tuscan roots are clear with fresh acidity that keeps it lively throughout a meal. It certainly does not have an “international” profile. It’s another satisfying choice for hearty pasta dishes.
