To those with a more European palate and wine sensibility, this St. Laurent from Pfaffl’s Altenberg vineyard will be a pleasant and delicious diversion from heftier New World red wines. Though light on the palate, this vintage doesn’t want for flavor or character. Aromas and flavors of blackberry and dark cherry are inviting and persistent, and there is a white pepper note that speaks to the long, cool growing season in the Weinviertel region. Excellent with hard cheeses and savory meat dishes.
