Giuseppe Nada, Barbaresco (Piedmont, Italy) 2009

 This standout from the commune of Treiso is boldly oaked, but the wood is backed up by terrific fruit recalling dark cherries and a host of accents including Asian spices and church incense.  There’s an alluring sweetness that rides through the considerable acidity and tannin that keep this ripe wine in form, and which will enable it to develop even more complexity in coming years.
