The Frank Family Cabernets have always been good, but lately they’ve been even better than usual and the ’08 Rutherford Reserve is a case in point. Sourced from the Winston Hill Vineyard, which overlooks the Silverado Trail, this vintage exhibits the density of fruit for which Napa Valley Cabs are famous, showing complex aromas of black currant, plum, black cherry and spice. It has richness and weight without being cloying, and surprising firm structure that will give it the opportunity to improve over the long haul. In my humble opinion, one of the better Cabs ever made by Frank Family.
