Terra Noble, Colchagua Valley (Chile) Carmenere 2008

May 11, 2011

By Marguerite Thomas

A superb wine whose juiciness and linear structure may remind you of good California Cabernet Franc.  The vines are planted in the granite soils of Chile’s Coastal Range, a terroir that seems to have just the right combination of cool and warm temperatures to thoroughly ripen the grapes without producing wine that’s too soft and spineless.  And of course skilled winemaking is also critical to achieving this happy equilibrium.
