Vigne Regali, Dolcetto d’Acqui (Piedmont, Italy) 2010

Apr 17, 2012

By Robert Whitley

The beauty of Italian wine is that much of it is made for the moment, whatever that moment may be. L’Ardi Dolcetto d’Acqui is the perfect wine for a sunny afternoon with salumi, olives and hard cheeses, or with a light summer starter course of pasta with fresh tomatoes, olive oil and herbs. Or maybe something as simple as a pizza. On the palate it exhibits excellent richness, with fleshy, juicy, ripe fruit and moderate palate weight, with smooth tannins, good acid balance and plenty of black cherry and spice goodness. For the price, a major player in my stocks of yummy summer reds!
