Dan Lee’s Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from Monterey County’s Santa Lucia Highlands are renowned, yet his lesser-known Double L Syrahs are just as enticing. The 2011 offers effusive aromas of black plum, blackberry and black pepper. The palate is full and mouth-filling, with bright black cherry and plum flavors tinged with hints of fresh herbs, violets and toasty oak.
