Marchesi Di Barolo, Barolo (Piedmont, Italy) 2010

Jul 30, 2014

By Michael Franz

Packed with power and braced with plenty of wood, this is an impressive and assertive wine, yet also one that shows real finesse.  Dark and dense, it still seems more generous than brooding or backward, and the sweet purity of the fruit is what leaves that lasting impression.  Showing both dark and red fruit tones, this is complex and interesting, but that doesn’t change the fact that it also shows kick-down-the-door intensity of flavor.
