I’ve been waiting eagerly for the 2012 Cabernets from Duckhorn, and this is a fine opening salvo. Bright ripe berry fruit, some lively brushy notes and touches of cedar chest dust and toffee entice your nose, leading to a palate that delivers on that promise in dry, food friendly fashion. Bright acidity props up the red fruit aspect in the finish and suggests a pairing with the lighter side of meat — a roasted chicken or a turkey will work as well as a juicy steak. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
