Clove and white pepper explode from the glass about three inches away from your nose, with brambly berry and black cherry notes lurking underneath. Then the palate hits you with dry, classic Zinfandel character, with the pepper forward and stately oak spice carrying the fruit. From the grill to the roaster, red meat and this wine are made for each other.
