The Sonoma Mountain AVA has been around since the mid 1980’s, but I haven’t seen many appearances on labels until recently. Laurel Glen has been a leader in championing fruit from here, and this bottling shows why. Ripe blackberry and cassis and a specific note of damp clay mix with a stone minerality on the nose and in the mouth, with supple tannins and a grip that keeps things nicely integrated through a lingering finish. This has the stuffing for bold cheeses as well as the beef on your table.
