Over the past few vintages, this has one of the best bang-for-your-buck reds in California, and this vintage continues the string. Bright berry fruit, leafy notes, pepper, mild oak toast and a bit of citrus zest are melded together in a wine that will surprise fans of the grape with its complexity at this price point. I’d slip this into a blind tasting with Syrahs up to four times the price with confidence. Great work!
