Pinot specialist Black Kite in recent vintages has reached beyond its stellar Anderson County vineyard for new grape sources. This Sonoma Coast pinot remains in keeping, however, with the high bar set by the home vineyard. Winemaker Jeff Gaffner pushes the envelope a bit on ripeness, but pulls it off with a dark-fruited beauty that exhibits forward raspberry fruit and a richly textured pinot that is full-bodied, layered, long and extremely pleasing.
