I’ve tasted this wine in the past and found it a bit closed, but as usual with wines like this one, time finds a way to open things up. This is a bold, meaty wine that shows intensity and weight on the palate, turning the aromas of meat, mixed berries and dry raisin into rich flavors that really linger pleasantly on the palate. It’s a bargain as Amarone goes, and should be fairly easy to find. If you’ve never tried this unique appellation, be careful, this might be your gateway experience.
