ACORN Winery, Russian River Valley (Sonoma County) 2011

ACORN threw everything but the kitchen sink into its delightful Medley red blend. There’s a shot of Syrah, a dash of Zinfandel, a splash of Alicante Bouschet, a pinch of Cinsault, a bit of Muscat, an equal splash of Dolcetto and a small percentage of "other." And it’s delicious. Judges at the 2014 Sommelier Challenge International Wine Competition thought so, too, awarding Medley a platinum medal and 94 points. It’s shows ripe red-fruit aromas, firm structure, a note of spice and a long, pleasing finish.
