Kerner has an unusual parentage, coming from the red Trollinger grape and Riesling. It was first cultivated in 1969, the hope being that it would stand up to climates where Riesling is subject to rot. This example has a nose that is very Riesling like, with clear sweet stone fruit, white flowers and lemon lime aromas. On the palate a dry, biting surprise is delivered, with bold presentation of the fragrance profile as flavor, lingering very long and bright. Delightful!
