The venerable Domaine Cheveau, which is now being run by the third generation of the Cheveau family, is especially successful in showcasing both the maximum charm and succulence that well raised Chardonnay grapes can deliver. These particular grapes were raised in the clay-limestone soils that are responsible for much of that distinctive Burgundian character many of us crave (the Grandes Bruyères vines are almost half a century old). Rich and mouth-filling, with steely precision and suggestions of chalky minerality, this is indeed an utterly delicious wine.
