Eberle Winery, Paso Robles (California) Sangiovese 2017

Oct 1, 2019

By Robert Whitley

Sangiovese is the secret gem in the excellent Eberle stable of wines.  Secret because it is often overshadowed, and thus overlooked, by the winery’s success with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, the Eberle Sangiovese sails along under the radar making friends everywhere it lands.  This native grape of Tuscany thrives in the dry, warm climate of Paso Robles.  Eberle’s expression highlights the pure black cherry fruit of Sangiovese coupled with exceptional acid/sugar balance.  This vintage builds momentum in the glass and is an outstanding match with grilled meats and pasta dishes prepared with a red sauce.    A Platinum Award winner at the 2019 Sommelier Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition.
