For my palate this is one of New Zealand’s finest Sauvignon Blancs. It certainly has the expected lively acidity and fresh lime peel flavors plus a dash of green grass, but the bold, textured palate also includes layers of juicy peach and other stone fruits plus a whiff of smokiness. Wild Sauvignon’s considerable elegance and purity of flavor are further bonuses. Kevin Judd, the founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay, established Greywacke in 2009.
