I love a wine that is well-made and delicious but falls outside the boundaries of expectations, here a Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc that is remindful of a southern Rhone blended blanc or even an opulent white Burgundy. The aroma is a come-hither fresh meatiness, and the flavors are of savory grain, brioche and aged Champagnes. The structure is lean on entry, but finishes with a more-broadened aged fruitiness. Light tannins, with a long finish.
