Over the last 30-plus years, Texas winemakers have honed their craft, and the state’s wine has established regional and national esteem. William Chris Vineyards is a big part of that growth. In 2008, William Chris Vineyards was born in Hye, Texas. Utilizing Old World winemaking techniques, founders Chris Brundrett and William "Bill" Blackmon believe that great wines are not made but grown. Their 2019 William Chris Vineyards is Cabernet Sauvignon, 78%, Merlot, 12% and Syrah. It pours a deep violet with garnet highlights. The nose sings with lush blackberry, blackcurrant, purple plum, and violet, underlain by cedar, pencil lead, and cinnamon. The palate is dense, and the tannins are just starting to soften into sultriness, showing promising years of positive development.
