Some years ago, Symington decided it would help lead the parade for Port houses to make Douro table reds and decided to do so using its premium Port quintas, including its up-valley vineyard jewel, Vesuvio. Also, over the past few years it has added more Alicante Bouschet to its vineyards. Like all its Douro reds, this table wine is one high in red fruits – lots of tart red flavors moderated by good barrel notes and lots of acidity. But always lots of intense red fruit.
