Here’s a ripe side Chardonnay — at least on the ripe side for this producer, but it’s managed by lively acidity and judicious use of oak in a way that enhances the fruit without taking over. The winery team attributes the structural elements to wind that prevails on Wildcat Mountain which thickens the skin of Chardonnay fruit, giving the bright citrus and pineapple a place to shimmer through honeyed texture. I really appreciate the breadth of MacRostie’s Chardonnay catalog.
