Very good Napa Valley Cabernets tend to fall into three categories – big, muscular, high-alcohol and tannic reds; silky or satiny smooth wines that emulate Right Bank Bordeaux more than Left, and, very occasionally, those with muddled fruitiness that nevertheless have a flowing structure. This is one of the latter. It has slightly tart blackberry flavors that come across almost as “warm” and soothing with a nice dollop of oak – a very comforting wine without being the least bit rustic.
