Bernhard Ott has headed the operation of the Ott winery for thirty years. His family winery in Wagram offers a range of single-vineyard Grüner Veltliners as well as a few Rieslings. The Am Berg Grüner bottling is blended from several sites in the region. Although a Niederösterreich (Lower Austria) appellation, much of the fruit comes from Ott’s Wagram vineyards and grows in deep loess soil. The Ott 2019 Am Berg Grüner Veltliner is classic Grüner. It is juicy, fresh and bursting with floral aromas plus citrus and green apple fruits backed by subtle green herb and white pepper – the defining characteristics of good Grüner. The flavors are brisk, clean and refreshing, with a satisfying textural richness on the palate typical of Grüners grown in loess soils. With its inherent green tones, Grüner Veltliner is an excellent wine to pair with vegetable dishes. It can pair equally well with your favorite seafood recipes.
