Located between Austria, Italy, Hungary, and Croatia, Slovenia is home to innovative producers making wines influenced by its diverse borders. In the Brda subregion, which borders on northern Italy’s Fruili/Collio, Movia produces beautiful Sauvignon Blancs influenced by the norther Adriatic spur of the Mediterranean. Unlike many typical, fresh, and young Sauvignon Blancs, Movia Sauvignon Blanc spends two years aging in French oak. As a result, their 2017 Sauvignon Blanc has a creamy texture with floral and honey notes. It is inviting and focused, showing just great right now, but should also hold nicely for a few years.
