In the past few years it seems like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has gotten more subtle and delicious. Take this one from Brancott Estate in Marlborough on the South Island of New Zealand. It is distinctly, but not stridently Sauvignon Blanc in character, with pretty, pure lemon, pink grapefruit and green apple aromas and flavors with notes of fresh lime zest. It is a crisp and lively wine you can pair with a salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, feta and basil to bid farewell to summer. The folks at Brancott Estate, which began as Montana, get the credit for planting the first vineyard in Marlborough, which, of course, included Sauvignon Blanc.
