Anselmo Mendes, Vinho Verde DOC (Portugal) Loureiro 2020

 The Pássaros Loureiro from Anselmo Mendes shows the distinctive and attractive qualities of the Loureiro grape.  Drawn from vines grown on the decomposed granite soils in the Monção and Melgaço subregions, this Vinho Verde is refreshing and lively.  The aromas are forward and exuberant with lime, lemon, pear and green apple elements enhanced by subtle floral and herbal hints.  The flavors are zesty and lively but with a bit more depth and interest than most Vinho Verde bottlings.  The pure green apple and citrus fruits are followed by the surprisingly rich texture that the Loureiro provides plus floral, herb and spice tones.  If you want to try a Vinho Verde with more muscle than the average, give the Pássaros Loureiro a try.
