Barbera from Amador County can be a beautiful expression of the grape. Macchia’s 2020 “Infamous” Cooper Ranch Barbera packs a velvety punch. Lovely aromas of ripe plum, strawberry, red cherry, violets, smoke and baking spice emanate from the glass. The flavors are luscious and silky-smooth, with layers of cherry, plum and strawberry fruits underlain by hints of vanilla, smoke and spice. This is a full-bodied Barbera with a rich texture that will age well for another 3 to 6 years.
