Bodegas Muriel, Rioja Reserva (Spain) 2017

Feb 14, 2023

By Michael Apstein

Bodegas Muriel makes a range of wines, all of which are easy to recommend.  Frankly, I would buy all three of the current releases reviewed this week, then invite some people over, and give everyone a quick lesson in Rioja.  A Reserva requires three years of aging prior to release, which results, in this case, in a more serious wine.  Darker and more brooding than Muriel’s Crianza, this Reserva has attractive bitterness in its bright uplifting finish.  Polished tannins are appropriate and not overwhelming.  Here is another bargain to drink now, with a heftier meal.
