Mendes is arguably one of the top producers in Vinho Verde and is aptly nicknamed Mr. Alvarinho. His 2021 “Contacto” 100 percent Alvarinho is made with a short skin maceration (hence the name Contacto). It is fresh and bright, offering mineral verve, and flaunts notes of mango, tart apple, salted lemon, and wet stones. It dances across the palate with electric ease.
