Wines like this one will make you wonder why Grüner Veltliner hasn’t taken more of a toehold in California. I suspect it’s a microclimate issue that limits where it can do this well. As evidenced here, Edna Valley’s western edge cool climate seems a perfect match. Coastal influence reigns here, with a saline note joining ginger, mixed citrus and a dash of white pepper. It’s very bright, with a well integrated extended finish. The Cadre label is off to a great start!
