Hailing from the Santa Cruz Mountains and the steep slopes and gravelly soils of Bates Ranch, a site known for refined, cult wines, this 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon from Vöcal Vineyards offers intoxicating notes of pomegranate, graphite, brush, roasted red peppers and herbal touches. The palate is polished, taut, fresh and remarkably finessed for a young Californian Cabernet. The tannins are slightly grippy but not overbearing, and rounded out perfectly by the red fruit notes.
