Fading to crimson in the glass, Domaine Serguier’s 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape, is drinking quite well right now. Scents of strawberry fruit leather mingle with tobacco, and autumn leaves. Flavors of tart red fruits abound on the palate, with still zippy acidity. However, the wine has an unmistakable leanness to it, showing more delicate than many Chateauneufs. Perhaps this is why the wine appears to show more age than expected. Regardless of the causes at work, the wine is drinking well and is likely near its peak; it should be drunk in the next few years.
