Cremisan Wine Estate, Cremisan Valley (West Bank, Palestine) Dabouki 2019

Jul 18, 2023

By Miranda Franco

Founded by Salesian monks in 1885, Cremisan was established by a young Italian missionary, Father Antonio Bellone, to create work for people in the area.  Sales of Cremisan wines also helped support the orphanages in the area.  Today, the winery’s mission has not changed.  The few remaining Salesian monks still help with winery production and bottling.  Profits are still used to help Palestinian orphans.  The 2019 Cremisan West Bank, made from the indigenous Dabouki grape, is aromatic, fresh, and crisp, offering tropical aromas and succulent flavors of ripe green apples, Bosc pears, pineapple, lime zest, anise, and oregano.  This is Exhibit A in the case for Palestinian wines.
