Kumeu River makes some of my favorite Chardonnays, offering striking value at every price point. Coming in at just under $60, their 2019 Coddington Chardonnay is priced well under many Chardonnays of similar caliber. As the wine is poured, potent and intoxicating aromas fill the air — a medley of mangoes, pears, wild flowers, and toasted oak. The wine shows a beautiful contrast between its textural richness and bright acidity, managing to be both nimble and lush all at once. Tropical and citrus flavors fade to a staying finish of lightly toasted coconut and almonds.
