Podere Il Carnasciale is uniquely distinguished as the only winery in the world to commercially cultivate the Caberlot grape variety. Believed to be a cross between Cabernet Franc and Merlot, the grape was first discovered in an abandoned vineyard in the 1960s. The "Il Carnasciale" serves as the second label to the winery’s renowned "Il Caberlot." It is crafted from younger vines, making it ready to drink earlier while retaining the depth of the flagship wine. This 2020 edition features dark cherry and plum aromas and flavors complemented by savory notes of pepper and cedar, with intriguing hints of crushed rose petals and espresso. Delicious and rich, the wine’s refined structure offers impressive length, supported by dusty tannins.
