Ravines Wine Cellars, Finger Lakes (New York) Dry Riesling 2020

Jul 16, 2024

By Miranda Franco

Winemaker Morten Hallgren and his wife, Lisa, founded Ravines in 2001.  Born in Denmark, Morten was raised on his family’s wine estate in France’s Côtes de Provence and later attended enology school in Montpellier.  Early in his career, he worked at Château Cos d’Estournel in Bordeaux.  In 1998, he became the Chief Winemaker for Dr. Konstantin Frank Cellars in the Finger Lakes, where he discovered the immense potential of the region’s terroir and wines.  Their 2020 Estate Dry Riesling is a crisp, balanced, mouthwatering Riesling, featuring bright aromas and flavors of white flowers, lemon/lime zest, white peach, fennel, and a hint of wet stone.  While already delightful, this wine likely has another decade ahead of it.
