Di Arie, Shenandoah Valley (California) 2020

If the abbreviation “GST” is new to you, you’re not alone, as this is the first time I’ve seen it too.  It is short for the (mostly) Iberian grapes in the blend, which is 50% Grenache, 27% Syrah, 20% Tempranillo, and 3% Touriga Nacional.  It is notably softer than I would have guessed, and as a 2020 release, it is ready to enjoy now, which is a great advantage for restaurants or consumers who don’t have wine cellars.  Medium-bodied, with a mix of red and black fruit tones, this remains lively and interesting but not overly acidic or tannic.  Makes me hope “GST” catches on so that I can quit with the quotation marks.
